Henry Clay letter, 1834 February 24.

Collection consists of a single page letter to Ammi Harrison of New Haven, Connecticut from Henry Clay of Washington, D. C. dated February 24, 1834. The letter thanks Harrison for a patriotic song he wrote and sent to Clay. He also writes "the times are out of joint, and all sorts of aid and cooperation are necessary to secure the greatest interest of the Union."

Henry Clay Sr. (April 12, 1777 – June 29, 1852) was an American attorney and statesman who represented Kentucky in both the Senate and House. He was the seventh House speaker and the ninth secretary of state. He received electoral votes for president in the 1824, 1832, and 1844 presidential elections.
